Volunteer Week Celebrations

The team here at toogoodtowaste largely consists of a wonderful, diverse group of volunteers and placements who are committed to helping us help our local community each and every day. To thank our volunteers for their commitment and hard work we organised two day-trips for them during Volunteers Week. Each volunteer could choose which of the trips they wanted to go on to make sure they had an enjoyable day out. With a hired minibus driven by one of our van drivers and lunch for everyone provided by a local café we were set for a fun few days.

The first of the trips had an adventurous start where they headed off quad biking in the morning; this was then followed by a more leisurely afternoon in Porthcawl. Although the weather was miserable and wet, spirits were not dampened and everyone made the most of their day.

Day two saw was a more relaxed outing to West Midlands Safari Park. When the team arrived they started with the safari where they spotted some of the bigger animals, this was then followed by an enjoyable afternoon strolling around the park looking at all the different animals whilst also enjoying a spot of lunch.

Everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves on the trips, particularly spending time with each other outside toogoodtowaste. It also allowed people to get to know other volunteers better, including some they had never met due to working on different days.

Mark a volunteer in our contact centre said: “I had a great time as West Midlands, it was a good fun day out and I thoroughly enjoyed myself.”

Once again, we would like to thank everyone for their continued and much appreciated support and for making toogoodtowaste such a great place to work.
